Game of Thrones - Overview Part 3

Lord Eddard Stark wakes up after a long period of unconsciousness, due to the injuries. He finds King Robert and Queen Cersei waiting. Cersei is furious with Ned's act in attacking Jamie in the street and having Tyrion arrested. She wants Robert to take action against Ned but the King refuses and tells her to shut her mouth but Cersei refuses and calls Robert a woman, he hits her. Cersei is bruised and says that she will wear that bruise in honor and Robert tells her if she doesn't shut up he will honor her again. After Cersei leaves the room, Robert restores Ned's position as Hand of the King. The King is leaving for the hunt and wants the realm at peace when he returns. Eddard takes some harsh decisions to see justice done. Eddard decides to send his daughters home, to Winterfell, but Sansa refuses because she is supposed to marry Prince Joffery, King Roberts's son. Arya is afraid that she must leave Syrio. Eddard takes a pause to take a look at the book he borrowed from Grand Maester Pycell. Eddard checks the entry on  House Baratheon. He notices that every time a Baratheon is married their children have black hair right up to Roberts and Cersei's children who are all blonde.

In Winterfell, Bran has another dream about the Three-Eyed Raven. Hodor brought the finished saddle design by Tyrion. He goes on a ride with Robb and Theon. They get the message about Eddards injury and Tyrion's capture. But wait Bran has wandered off on his horse. They go looking for him and finds him surrounded by some wildlings. They kill three of them and take one wildling named Osha as a prisoner. Theon attempts to bully Osh and insists that she may refer to him as "My Lord" and questions her about why cross The Wall and come here. She claims that the White Walkers have awoken and are coming to the south.

On the border of the Riverlands, Lord Tywin Lannister has assembled an army of sixty thousand men to oppose Starks and punish Catlyns capture of his son Tyrion Lannister.

In Vaes Dothrak, Daenerys tries to convince Khal Drogo that how it would benefit them to win the seven kingdoms, but Drogo says that a man doesn't need an "Iron Chair" but only a horse. At the marketplace, a wine seller tries to poison the Khaleesi by giving her the best wine for taste. Ser Johra stops him and one Dothraki captures the wine seller. Drogo visits Daenerys to see if she's okay and makes a promise to her that he would win the Throne for his son. Drogo's khalasar departs Vaes Dothrak.

Lord Eddard Stark meets with Cersei and tells her that he knows the secret that Jon Arryn died for: that her three children are not Robert's, but they are children of her brother Jamie. Cersei doesn't deny the fact but she is proud of it and compares her love towards her brother to Targaryen's practice of marrying brother to sister. Cersei calls Eddard a fool for turning down the throne for himself. Eddard tells her that he doesn't regret it. Before leaving Cersei gives him a warning: "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground."

King Robert returns and he is injured. Eddard goes to meet him and Robert tells him to write a letter naming him as Lord Protector of The Realm until Joffery comes of age. Robert also asks him to cancel the attempt to murder Daenerys Targaryen.

In Kings Landing, King Joffery summons Eddard Stark to the throne room; Robert has died. He demands oath and fealty from his subjects. Instead, Eddard gives Ser Barristan Selmy the proclamation naming him as Lord Protector of the Realm. Cersei tears the paper up and suggests that he should bend the knee and swear allegiance. Eddard commands Slynt to take Joffery and Cersei into custody. Littlefinger holds the knife to Eddard's throat saying "I did warn you not to trust me."
