DESIGNING FOR DISCOVERABILITY
Discoverability is the superpower almost everyone has, which is to discover something. In this, the user finds new content or a function of which he/she was not aware of before. For example, "Norman Doors." They work just the opposite of how you want them to work. Discoverability is lost
Is it so difficult to design for discoverability?
YES. Because the users are not looking for new things when they interact with some product. The designers are trying to reinvent the wheel. But reinventing the wheel means designing new things, and the new wheel makes it difficult for a user to understand the product.
How to improve discoverability?
Don't try to reinvent the wheel. New things make it difficult for users to understand and discover the functions of the product. You(designer) may end up confusing the users.
Eliminate the number of options. You are bound to confuse the user when you give them several options. Offer a limited number of choices to clarify the decision-making process.
Prioritize the information. The relevant components must be visible, and they must communicate the correct message.
